Identifying your network equipment
Tell your router, switch and failover kit apart so you know what's what.
The broadband router
Usually the box your provider sent, with a broadband or internet light. It's where the phone/fibre line plugs in and where your Wi-Fi comes from.
The 4G / failover router
A separate box (often from us) with a mobile SIM inside. It keeps your terminals online if the main broadband fails. It usually has its own small aerial.
A network switch
A simple box with several network ports, used to give more devices a wired connection. No lights flashing on a device's port can mean an unplugged cable.
